The Greater Lakeland Rural Crime Watch Association Annual Scholarship Criteria
One Scholarship for $1000.00 will be awarded annually (Jan - Dec)
The Greater Lakeland Rural Crime Watch Association is a community-driven organization dedicated to promoting crime prevention, public safety, and stronger rural communities through awareness, communication, education, and collaboration.
Working alongside residents, businesses, municipalities, law enforcement, and community partners, the organization encourages proactive involvement in reducing crime and improving the quality of life throughout the region. Rural Crime Watch recognizes that safer communities are built through cooperation, accountability, and citizens who are willing to make a positive difference.
This scholarship reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders pursuing careers in law enforcement, public safety, justice, forensic sciences, and related fields. It also recognizes the importance of volunteerism, leadership, and community service in creating strong and resilient communities. By investing in students who demonstrate integrity, compassion, and a dedication to serving others, The Greater Lakeland Rural Crime Watch Association hopes to encourage future professionals who will contribute positively to the safety and well-being of our communities for years to come.
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
● Be a graduating student from High School within the St. Paul Education School Division
● Be accepted into, or enrolled in, a recognized post-secondary institution, accredited training program, or apprenticeship program.
● Be pursuing studies in a field related to:
Law Enforcement, Policing, Criminal Justice, Forensic Sciences, Corrections, Emergency Services, Security Studies, Law, Public Safety or related programs.
● Demonstrate meaningful volunteerism and community involvement.
● Submit proof of acceptance or enrollment into the program of study.
● Provide a current academic transcript.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following:
● Copy of acceptance letter or proof of enrollment
● Current academic transcript
● Resume outlining volunteerism, leadership, employment, and extracurricular activities
● A written essay (500–750 words) addressing:
Why the applicant has chosen their field of study
Career goals and future plans
The importance of community safety and crime prevention
How volunteerism has impacted their personal growth and community
Selection Considerations
Applications will be evaluated based on:
● Commitment to community service and volunteerism
● Academic effort and readiness for post-secondary studies
● Demonstrated interest in public safety and community leadership
● Leadership qualities and positive community involvement
● Preference may be given to applicants with demonstrated involvement in rural or community safety initiatives.
